Here we fill the walls to the brim with internationally-influenced food, full-bodied wines and ice-cold beer. With touches of France and Sweden, and without complicated words or concepts, we play with language, food and decor in a way Borås has never seen before.
The idea behind Balthazar is a happy mix of a twelve-litre champagne bottle, a cartoon character from children's television and the three wise men. Balthazar is part of Viskan Group, which has long brought home gold and aimed for the stars, and this is the finishing touch. Just like Café Viskan, Balthazar is a meeting place for everyone who loves food and good company.
One house, four ways to eat
Under the same roof in Pallas Shopping you will find the restaurant, the Café & Bakery with its own sourdough bakery and deli counter, and the Boulebar upstairs. We opened our doors in 2018. We serve breakfast on weekdays, lunch of the day Monday to Friday, brunch at weekends and à la carte dinner every evening. The kitchen is French-Swedish bistro cooking, with classics such as moules frites, steak tartare, duck frites and biff Rydberg, and a dish of the evening that changes from day to day.
The wine cellar and the bakery
We are proud of our wine cellar, with a carefully chosen selection to match the whole menu, and we hold wine tastings regularly. In the bakery we bake bread, buns and pastries from scratch every day, and the deli counter has cold cuts, French cheeses and our own marmalade. Several of our chefs compete in pastry — which is why we tell you to save room for dessert.
The Boulebar
Upstairs you will find the Boulebar, with gravel courts for pétanque, a bar, chess and other games. It can be booked for after work, team building and kick-offs, and combined with dinner in the restaurant afterwards.
Groups, parties and catering
Balthazar has a private dining room and welcomes everything from small groups to larger parties, company dinners and client dinners. We also cater dinners, parties and events in Borås and the surrounding area, and make bespoke cakes for birthdays and weddings.
