What are Balthazar’s opening hours?
The restaurant serves dinner Monday to Saturday from 4 pm. The Café & Bakery is open Monday–Friday 9 am–7 pm, Saturday 9 am–5 pm and Sunday 10 am–4 pm. Lunch is served on weekdays 11.30 am–2.30 pm, and brunch on Saturday 10 am–5 pm and Sunday 10 am–4 pm.
What kind of food does Balthazar serve?
The kitchen is French-Swedish, in bistro style. The dinner menu features classics such as moules frites, steak tartare, duck frites and beef Rydberg, alongside a daily special that changes from day to day. Balthazar has its own wine cellar and sourdough bakery, and is listed in the White Guide.
How much does dinner cost at Balthazar?
Starters cost SEK 59–229 and main courses SEK 259–379. A three-course dinner is normally SEK 400–600 per person, drinks not included. Brunch is SEK 179 for three dishes, SEK 249 for five and SEK 300 for seven.

Are there vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options?
Yes. Several dishes on the dinner, lunch and brunch menus can be made vegetarian or vegan, and the brunch menu has plenty of gluten-free options. A vegetarian dish is served every lunch day. Tell us about any allergies when booking and the kitchen will adapt.
Can Balthazar be booked for groups, parties or corporate dinners?
Yes. Balthazar has a private dining room and hosts everything from small groups to larger parties, corporate dinners, kick-offs and client dinners. The boules bar can be booked together with dinner. Contact bokning@balthazar.se or call +46 33 799 14 00 and we will put together a proposal.
Does Balthazar offer catering in Borås?

What is the Weekend Box?
The Weekend Box is a three-course menu you pick up and heat at home. It costs SEK 399 per person, changes menu every week and is collected on Friday and Saturday between 3 pm and 5 pm. Order by 11 am on the day of pick-up at balthazar.se/en/helgkasse.
What is the Boules Bar and can it be booked?
The Boules Bar is Balthazar’s indoor pétanque courts with an adjoining bar, in the same premises as the restaurant. It suits after work, team building and kick-offs, and can be combined with dinner in the restaurant. Book the courts at balthazar.se or on +46 33 799 14 00.
Does Balthazar serve breakfast and lunch?
Yes. Breakfast is served in the Café & Bakery from 9 am on weekdays, with breakfast options at SEK 139–159. Lunch of the day is served Monday to Friday 11.30 am–2.30 pm with a meat, fish and vegetarian option, and a salad buffet, bread and coffee are always included. The all-day menu with salads, poke bowls and pasta is available on weekdays 11.30 am–7 pm.
Does Balthazar have outdoor seating?
Yes. The terrace sits by the river Viskan and is usable all year round. The premises have a wheelchair-accessible entrance and there is parking in the building.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes, gift cards for Balthazar are available at balthazar.se and can be used for food and drink in the restaurant, the café and the Boules Bar.
Do you offer a senior discount on lunch?
Yes. Guests of retirement age get 10 percent off lunch on weekdays at Balthazar in Borås. Just mention it when you order. Lunch is served 11.30–14.30 on weekdays and always includes the salad buffet, bread and coffee.
What is LUS at Balthazar?
LUS stands for Lunch Utan Slut, Swedish for lunch without end, and is the Friday concept at Balthazar in Borås. It is the long Friday lunch that is meant to stretch into the afternoon. On Fridays between 11am and 4pm, beer, wine, cider and alcohol-free drinks cost 69 kronor with lunch.
What dates do you serve julbord?
Balthazar in Borås serves julbord, the Swedish Christmas buffet, on eight evenings in 2026: Thursday 26 and Friday 27 November, Thursday 3 and Friday 4 December, Thursday 10 and Friday 11 December, and Thursday 17 and Friday 18 December. Each evening has two sittings, an early one at 5pm and a late one at 8pm. Seats are limited and each date closes once it is full.
How much does the julbord cost?
The julbord at Balthazar in Borås costs 895 kronor per person. A drink ticket costs 95 kronor and costs the same whatever you choose, beer, wine, cider or alcohol-free. The julbord is served on selected evenings in November and December, with two sittings each evening.
Can you book the julbord for a company or a large party?
Yes. Balthazar in Borås takes large parties for the julbord, either on one of the public julbord evenings or on a date of your own. If the party wants to sit on its own there is a private dining room for up to 16 people, and booking the Boulebar gives you the whole room with space for up to 60 guests. For larger groups Balthazar works with two venues in Borås that you have entirely to yourselves. One takes up to 100 guests, the other up to 200, and the food comes from the Balthazar kitchen. Are there vegetarian and gluten-free options on the julbord?
Yes. There is always vegetarian and gluten-free on the julbord at Balthazar in Borås. If you have an allergy or eat something particular, say so in your booking request and the kitchen will make you a plate of your own.
