Four ways to gather a group
Our private dining room
A separate room inside the restaurant, with a projector and screen. Suits board meetings, client dinners, team lunches or a dinner where you want to sit undisturbed.
The Boules Bar, exclusive hire
The entire Boules Bar to yourselves, with gravel pétanque courts and its own bar. Boules first, dinner in the restaurant afterwards — the usual format for kick-offs and after work.
Café Viskan Knalleland
Our sister venue in Knalleland, entirely at your disposal. We cook the food in the Balthazar kitchen and bring it there.
Borås Arena, the lounge
The lounge at Borås Arena for the largest groups. Same principle — our kitchen, your venue.
Why Balthazar rather than a conference centre
We are a French-Swedish bistro with our own sourdough bakery and a wine cellar we are proud of, listed in the White Guide. What you serve your guests or colleagues is proper restaurant food, cooked by chefs who compete in pastry — not conference catering. The meeting room is deliberately small: the private room seats 16 and has a projector and screen. If you need room for a hundred or two hundred, we bring the kitchen to you instead.
Meeting packages
The full day includes:
- The private room for eight hours, with projector and screen
- Morning coffee on arrival
- Mid-morning break with fresh bakes from our own bakery
- Lunch of the day with salad buffet, bread and coffee
- Afternoon break with coffee and something sweet
- Water on the table throughout the day
We invoice companies and send e-invoices to municipalities, regions and public authorities. Give us your billing address and any reference when you book.
The half day is the same either side of noon, with one break instead of two. If you want dinner after the meeting, or a round of boules in the afternoon, we will put it together.
Common questions from companies
How many people can Balthazar accommodate?
Our private dining room seats up to 16 and the Boules Bar up to 60 when hired exclusively. For larger groups you have Café Viskan Knalleland for up to 100 guests or the lounge at Borås Arena for up to 200. For those two we cook in the Balthazar kitchen and bring the food there.
Can we hold a meeting or conference at Balthazar?
Yes. The private room has a projector and screen and suits meetings of up to 16 — board meetings, management groups, client presentations and full-day meetings with food in between. We are a restaurant, not a conference centre, and that is the point: you get proper bistro food with your meeting rather than hotel buffet.
What does a meeting package cost?
A full day costs SEK 499 per person excluding VAT and a half day SEK 399. The full day includes the private room for eight hours with projector and screen, morning coffee, a mid-morning break with fresh bakes from our own bakery, lunch of the day with salad buffet, bread and coffee, an afternoon break, and water on the table. The half day is the same either side of noon, with one break instead of two.
Do you do Christmas dinners for companies?
Yes. We serve Christmas dinner on eight evenings in November and December, with two sittings each evening at 5 pm and 8 pm. It costs SEK 895 per person and a drinks ticket SEK 95. Private groups can join one of those evenings or get a date of their own. Christmas bookings go early — the December Fridays fill first.
Can you cater at our own premises?
Yes. We cater across Borås and the surrounding area for corporate dinners, conferences, staff parties and larger events, and make bespoke cakes. The food is cooked by the same chefs and from the same ingredients as the à la carte menu.
What can we do besides eating?
The Boules Bar has gravel pétanque courts, shuffleboard, chess and other games, bookable on its own or together with dinner. We also run wine tastings that work well as part of a kick-off or client evening.
Is there parking, and how central are you?
Balthazar is at Lilla Brogatan 14 in Pallas Shopping, by the river Viskan in central Borås, with parking in the building. That makes it easy for guests driving in from out of town.
Can we be invoiced?
Yes. Companies can be invoiced instead of paying on site, whether it is a meeting, a dinner, a Christmas dinner or catering. We also send e-invoices, which means municipalities, regions, public authorities and universities can book with us without a detour. Give us your billing address, e-invoicing address and any reference or purchase order code when you book, and the invoice follows afterwards.
